Sapp’s Story
Reverend Howard Sapp is a lifelong Fort Myers native, a retired Air Traffic Controller with several decades of experience keeping people safe in the skies, and an award-winning gospel artist. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he is a devoted husband and father who places family at the center of his life. As the proud nephew of the late Fort Myers City Councilwoman Veronica Showmaker and the son-in-law of former Lee County Commissioner Melvin Morgan, Rev. Sapp is committed to continuing his family’s longstanding legacy of dedicated public service, ensuring the continued success, growth, and well-being of Fort Myers and all its residents.
Howard graduated from Fort Myers High School before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from Edward Waters College, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Theological Studies from Northwestern University. Howard’s diverse educational background fuels his passion for community service and development.
Currently, Howard serves as CEO of the Source of Light and Hope Development Center, a non-profit organization providing emergency shelter and residential programs for at-risk youth in foster care aged 13 – 18. He works tirelessly to enhance health services, promote fairness, ensure safety, and drive prosperity for every individual in Fort Myers. He firmly believes that building a strong, vibrant community begins with empowering its citizens through opportunity and support.
Howard resides in Fort Myers with his loving family. With his extensive experience, unwavering dedication, and compassionate leadership, he is fully prepared and motivated to guide the city toward a brighter and more inclusive future for all.
